Okay, Solange! The very talented, famous sister of none other than Queen Bey has just added her signature soulful touch to one of Mariah Carey’s most iconic eras.
In celebration of the 20th anniversary of The Emancipation of Mimi, Solange has stepped in to reimagine the 2006 Pharrell and Snoop Dogg assisted single Say Somethin’ with a mesmerizing chopped and screwed remix. The revamped version is exclusive to the newly released Digital Deluxe Edition.
While always known for showing love to the artists who shaped her creative world, Solange took to Instagram Stories ahead of the release to share her gratitude and joy.
She posted a vintage interview clip where she once expressed her dream of working with Mariah, saying she had multiple songs in mind for the legendary vocalist. The moment came full circle as she followed up with a heartfelt tribute: “i love uuuu so much mom @mariahcarey tyyy so muchhh,” she wrote while vibing out and dancing to the remix.
Get this, Solange’s contribution is just one of the gems included in the celebratory reissue of The Emancipation of Mimi. The complete package also features a Kaytranada remix that was released in April and an unreleased track titled “When I Feel It.” That track was originally intended for the 2005 album but encountered sample clearance issues. It features a soulful lift from The Dynamic Superiors’ Here Comes That Feeling.
