An Air India flight bound for London crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad this morning, carrying 242 passengers and crew. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed near a residential area of a local medical college in western India.
According to The New York Times, Officials have not yet confirmed the number of survivors, but India’s health minister reported that “many people” had died. The airline stated that the passengers included 169 Indian nationals, 53 from Britain, seven from Portugal, and one from Canada.
Emergency response teams were quickly dispatched to the crash site, and authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
