Insider Claims Brian McKnight Made No Effort to Contact Son Before His Death

First things first, rest in peace, Cole “Niko” McKnight. An insider states Niko’s father, Brian McKnight, did not attempt to see his estranged son during his cancer battle.

According to Page Six, Brian McKnight also “has not reached out to the family.” Adding, “He did not contact or see Niko.”

The insider also added, “He was not alone, and he was deeply cherished every step of the way.”

The devastating announcement was confirmed by Niko’s uncle, Claude McKnight, who shared a heartfelt video on TikTok reflecting on his nephew’s passing and honoring his memory.

“This morning I found out that my nephew, Niko McKnight, passed away. He’d been bravely battling cancer for the past two years or so,” Claude shared with deep emotion.

He painted a heartfelt but vivid picture of Niko’s spirit and talent, describing him as a truly exceptional soul who made a lasting impression on those lucky enough to know him.

“Niko was one of those amazing kids… quirky, curious, and ridiculously talented. Amazing singer, amazing guitar player. Had a great eye as a photographer. And one of those kids, at least in my estimation, that you always wanted to be around.”

While touching on the complexities that have long existed within the McKnight family, Claude made it clear that his focus was solely on honoring Niko’s life.

“I wanted to post this about Niko, about his legacy, about how amazing he is, not about what some of you may have heard about family drama that has existed for quite some time, in our family,” he explained. “I don’t know exactly what was going on there, I know what I’ve seen. I know what I’ve heard from all parties involved… a lot of things didn’t get resolved.”

He closed the emotional tribute by acknowledging the internal struggles that Niko may have quietly endured, expressing both regret and a sense of peace for his nephew.

“I know that kid had a lot inside, a lot eating at him for a long, long time. I may have contributed to what happened with him, what I do know is he’s out of pain now. I just want to uplift that young man.”

RIP.
