Pro basketball star and captain for the Detroit Amplifiers, Jeremy Pargo is ready to make his next big move—this time, on the big screen. Today marks the official premiere of the trailer for The Final Play, a heartfelt and comedic indie film that blends romance, drama, and sports with an inspiring message about self-discovery and second chances.
Inspired by Pargo’s own life, The Final Play follows Breylon McNeil (played by Pargo), a former professional basketball player struggling to redefine success after his career on the court ends. With the glitz and structure of pro sports behind him, Breylon sets out on a personal journey to find fulfillment, face his fears, and embrace vulnerability—all while trying to navigate love and life in a world that no longer revolves around basketball.

The film is a passion project for Pargo, who not only stars in the lead role but also serves as writer and executive producer. His portrayal of Breylon aims to shine a light on the complexity of Black men’s emotional lives, breaking away from stereotypes and offering a raw, authentic look at the pursuit of happiness beyond fame.
Directed by Tailiah Breon, The Final Play brings together a strong ensemble cast including Hazel Renee, Navv Greene, Jerod Haynes, Vanessa D. Fant, Joe Johnson, Aaron Goldenberg, Ernestine Morrison Johnson, George Middlebrook, and Alisha Ward.
Set against a backdrop of laughs, heartfelt moments, and relatable growth, The Final Play delivers a powerful message: sometimes, the greatest win of all is learning how to lose—and love—with grace.
